Global Warming.

Far worse than imagined.

A report undertaken on behalf of the United Nations involving 200 scientists from scores of different countries warns that unless urgent action is taken today, the situation concerning the worlds environment will soon become irrecoverable. The report states that excessive use of fossil fuels will lead to a disastrous increase in global warming. Although it was first imagined that global warming would take place over many decades the latest evidence gives  terrifying notice that we do not have long to act before the situation is beyond redemption.

Drastic temperature change.

This new and profoundly disturbing evidence shows that the effects and causes of global warming have been grossly underestimated. Indeed recent findings show that the projected problem is likely to be far worse than imagined. While much of this evidence is of a highly technical nature it means that future decades are likely to be far warmer than previously imagined. Earlier estimates gave figures of between a 2 to 3 degree centigrade increase over the next four decades. These estimates now appear to have been drastically mistaken. Indeed scientists now believe this increase is likely to be in the order of at least 8 degrees Celsius.

Plant saturation.

These latest disclosures arise from new discoveries into the way plants and trees break down carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It is now thought that plant life has become so saturated with carbon dioxide that in future they will release far greater quantities back into the atmosphere than was ever believed possible. This in turn will lead to a significant warming of the Earth’s atmosphere leading to incalculable consequences for the environment. At the very least sea levels will rise dramatically contributing to an altered geography in a world where finding an adequate water supply will be at a premium. The truly nightmare scenario and one that cannot be ignored is that eventually the air will become too polluted to support life.

Is it too late?

The obvious fact is that the world is faced with an extremely dangerous dilemma. Global warming will not suddenly disappear, and although not all its causes are to do with fossil fuel emissions,  these still need to be curtailed. In fact with increased solar activity now proved to be a fact it was never more imperative to maintain the atmosphere in as healthy a state as possible. Failure to do so will result in massive consequences for the future, and will undoubtedly jeopardise our continued existence on this planet.

Now is definitely the time to act, yet too little is being done. In these circumstances the situation can only get worse!
